HOULDEN CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF INDEPENDENT LUXURY

Updated: Oct 13
Houlden marked its 50th anniversary with Leaders in Luxury: Fifty Years Forward, bringing Members and Supplier Partners together from 16–18 September 2026 to celebrate five decades of collaboration, shared success and independent luxury retail.
Founded in 1975 by Stuart Laing, later joined by Founding Partner Peter Lunn, Houlden was built on a simple principle: independent jewellers can achieve more together while retaining the individuality that makes their businesses exceptional. Fifty years later, that belief continues to sit at the heart of the Houlden community.
Across three days, the anniversary event combined expert-led business discussions, a curated exhibition, peer-to-peer exchange and celebrations. Members and Supplier Partners explored the changing luxury landscape, evolving customer expectations and the opportunities ahead for independent jewellery and watch retail.
The celebrations also included the 2026 Houlden Awards, recognising the businesses and individuals whose passion, principles and progressive thinking continue to strengthen the Houlden community, alongside special anniversary honours celebrating collaboration, leadership and legacy.
As Houlden enters its next chapter, its founding values of independence, trust and collaboration remain central - continuing to evolve while supporting strong, distinctive independent businesses and the wider jewellery and watch industry.
Fifty years forward, Houlden remains united by shared values, strengthened by individual character and focused firmly on the future.
