Houlden Member Baker Brothers has launched a project providing support for local charities, schools and community causes. The family-run jeweller has helped many good causes over the years and recently announced plans to establish a community fund dedicated to supporting local organisations and groups.
Baker Brothers director, Lizzie McAuley, said: “Launching our community fund will continue our Dad’s legacy as he did so much for children’s charities and it was always our plan to carry this on in his memory.
“Baker Brothers has always contributed to a variety of community causes through a combination of donations and raffle prizes to boost fundraising efforts, but we wanted to do so much more to help. During this pandemic we’ve seen how it’s brought the community back together and highlighted how important it is to look after your community.”
There will be a range of different ways the new Baker Brothers Community Fund will provide help to schools, charities, community groups, sports clubs and good causes in the Bedfordshire area. To mark the launch of the fund, Baker Brothers is recognising all the hard work of local school children by providing classmates with tasty treats for an end-of-year school summer picnic for up to 100 pupils. Schools are being encouraged to nominate themselves by the end of June via the jeweller’s Facebook page @bakerbrothersdiamonds
